Artist's Background

J. Kotkowski studied at St. Martins School of Art. After graduating he worked in Munich, Germany for a radio station that broadcast news and information to the East Bloc.

After the Berlin Wall came down he returned to England and took a studio in a converted warehouse near Limehouse. He began to paint again and financed himself with a variety of casual jobs including writing book covers for the blurb department of Penguin Books.

He then moved to a flat in North London where he produced the body of work displayed here in galleries 1 to 8.

He continues to paint and also teaches painting and drawing in Adult Education.
